Centel Media has become part of the recycling cell phones for charities project. How many of us get a new cell phone and stuff the old one into a drawer, never to be used again? It happens quite often. However, your old cell phones can be put to better use away from being harmful for the environment and cycled back in to do good. If you have any unused cell phones, wipe them clean of any information and send them to us at our address listed at the bottom of the page. Then, we will recycle them for several charities. In some cases, the phone is recycled and the money proceeds go to a charity. In other cases, the phones are fixed up so those in need can use them.
One of the major projects we use cell phone recycling for is to protect women against abuse. This is by far our largest focus. By donating your unused cell phones, you can help give abused women a fighting chance. In this case, we send out your unused phones where they will be refurbished. The refurbished phones will be delivered to women who have been, or are, victims of domestic violence—this gives them the help they need to get out of dangerous situations. With this process, women who have been victims of domestic violence can call for aid when they believe they are in trouble.
So many phones go unused every year. These phones usually contribute to electronic waste, which in turn become toxic to our environment. Even if they don’t work, a significant amount of these phones are not recycled correctly. If you decide to recycle your unused cell phones, not only are you helping the environment, you are helping someone in need. Every small act helps improve someone’s situation and contributes to saving our planet. We do not profit from this service, we merely feel it’s an important project and therefore, it is worth doing.
